In preparation for the first Web Design Camp session I thought it would be helpful to gather some ideas about what you see as the goals for this. So, what would you like to see done with the Summer Web Design Camp and what are you goals for your own site? Any projects that you need help with that you couldn't otherwise accomplish? | Andrew – andrew@copress.org – CoPress Hosting Director – http://www.andrewspittle.net |

| | First off, thanks so much for taking the initiative to put this together. I'm really stoked about the opportunity it presents. If nothing else, it will at least force me to do a bit of designing so that I can get feedback from the rest of the group. I think I'm most interested in: creating topical landing pages (and maybe incorporating some sort of wiki element), radically redesigning home pages, and learning more about typography (especially for blocks of content). The two projects I'll most likely be working on are the CoPress website and my own personal website. | |

| | I would participate in this. I'm an Interactive Design major at American. As you probably know from talking to Ethan on Twitter, we'll be moving The Eagle to ExpressionEngine this summer along with a complete redesign. I have lots of experience but I think this would definitely benefit everyone involved. Because we're moving to EE and not WordPress, and because I have more experience with EE (and with Rails) than with WordPress, I would not want to lead a WordPress-centric session. But my focus on design probably makes me qualified (and certainly very interested) in leading the session on typography. I am a designer but I have lots of development experience, and I knew how to make a site with HTML and CSS before I knew how to mock one up in Photoshop, so I'd be able to ground a discussion of typography in practical details as well (including issues of web standards and accessibility). We might consider combining the session on article design with the typography session as well, perhaps? I look forward to hearing from you. Jake Paul The Eagle, American University |

| | @Jake Good idea! I think that the article session and typography could definitely overlap and be merged into one. Right now it's looking like that session would be on June 18th and we'd love to have you lead it if interested. I'll be sending out details later this week about the technical side of the first session. Stay tuned! | Andrew – andrew@copress.org – CoPress Hosting Director – http://www.andrewspittle.net |

| | Hi, I'm Dan Getelman, and I'm working on moving the Daily Pennsylvanian over to Drupal. First off, I think this is a great idea, and thanks for organizing it. One of the things I like is that most of the topics seem to be independent of the platform, and should be able to apply to everyone. Looking forward to this! |

| | Hi all! I'm Lauren Rabaino, the online editor at the Mustang Daily. This summer I'll start training the next online editor (yet to be hired) and I'll start transitioning out in the fall. This summer I hope to get a news wiki on our site and a community-generated event calendar. I was also planning to redesign our landing pages to be more than a list of archived articles. I'm looking forward to working with everyone and hearing your ideas. It's going to be a productive summer! | |

| | Late to the game, but I'm Will Davis, former Web editor and next year's editor in chief for The Maine Campus all the way up in Orono, Maine. We're gearing up to relaunch our site on WordPress. I've finished transitioning all our articles off and now I'm just finishing up our design. I'm excited to hear everyone else's ideas! | |
