First off, we're having issues with our featured content on the front page. It will post the story in the featured space however it will not post the photo associated with that story.

Secondly, is there a way to format fonts and paginating with things?

There is a bit of a trick to the image display in the Gazette theme.

Most people try something like

http://siteurl.com/wp-content/…../image.jpg

Instead, try:

/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/image.jpg

Neither of those work. I don't think the links work.

Hi Andrew. I tried to solve the problem here but couldn't seem to make the featured gallery work either. The url for the image ought to be "media/year/month/example-image.jpg" the http://examplesite.com/" is unnecessary and will for sure keep it from working. Miles and I will dig into this a little more in the next days.

In the meantime, if you notice anything different on the demo posts that you've created then it's almost certainly because we're working on solving the problem. Sorry for the delay in getting this fixed but it will get solved soon.

Here's a different question…. we have made a separate category for use with the scrolling feature box called "-Feature Box". We have excluded the category from the front page, but is there a way to exclude it from the other places that lists categories? For instance, it will show in the search results ("Posted in: -Feature box, Opinion) etc.

What did you do to hide the Featured Post category from the front page?

Andrew and I solved this problem yesterday afternoon. The trick to isolating the issue when an image isn't showing up is to right-click it and open it in a new window. In this context, the function that produces the thumbnail from the original image was reporting errors that it couldn't create the image and write it to the cache directory. The cache directory is at /cache/ in the Woo Themes folder, but wasn't writable by the server. By making it writable by the server, the function was able to operate as intended and display the image. The proper style URL for these images is "wp-content/uploads/2009/08/image.jpg"

Chris, could you explain a bit more what you want to do? Including an image would be great. Thanks!

I think the info panel on the featured stories box goes up too high and covers too much of the graphic.

I wanted to change the height of the info panel. JonDesign, the original javacript author, got this on his forum: http://smoothgallery.jondesign…..hp?id=2569.

In the jd.gallery.css file look for:

.jdGallery .slideInfoZone

Then add some code to make it whatever height you like.  For example:
height: 38px;

Looks like we'd basically have to either find where this CSS class is or create it and link that part to it?

About the image resizer fuction, arobinsonwku, I have not been able to get the featured story box to work unless I keep the Gazette image resizer disabled. Otherwise, it does what you said in your first post: it shows the stories but keeps the image blank.

Hey everyone,

If you use Internet Explorer, could you try to open our site? It appears that the feature box breaks the site in IE. http://www.dailytitan.com. Thanks!

Hey there,

I was tweaking our javascript feature box and found something that broke our site in IE. In the "featured.php" file, the javascript area designated a few attributes like the transition and the delay time. I cut all these attributes out and set them in the actual "jd.gallery.js" file. That fixed the slideshow box for us.

On adjusting the height of the info panel, did you have to add the code or edit code? Where did you do either?

Thanks.

For us, it was line 546 of jd.gallery.js, and I just took out the "height normal" phrase and added a specific height:

this.slideInfoZone.start({'opacity': [0, this.options.slideInfoZoneOpacity], 'height': 60});

The javascript then fades in kind of funny, so maybe there is a better way to do it.

Hey everyone, we're having a problem running our theme in IE 7. If anyone has any suggestions about this bug, that would be hugely helpful… something's wrong with the top portion of our page.

Screenshot

Seems like our logo is pushed down and goes behind the page. Any suggestions? Thanks, Chris

Hey Chris, my thought for fixing that issue would be to add <div style="clear:both"></div> immediately after the closing header tag (</div> <!–/header –>). If that doesn't work let me know.

Anyone know why our most popular and latest articles aren't updating on our sidebar? Does something need to be enabled?

The Popular Posts feature bases popularity on the number of comments in a given article, rather than pageviews. After you start generating comments, popular posts will appear in your sidebar. You can probably test this by leaving a comment on an article. I'm almost 100 percent sure that that article will become the popular post.

I moved "comments" to our prominent tab on mustangdaily.net and moved "popular posts" over because we found that the list never changes. It was the same popular posts for a few months because those same articles kept generating more and more comments.

Hey Andrew, that <div style="clear:both"></div> didn't work for me and I'm sure I put it in the right place. Maybe there's some conditional CSS stuff that might work?

Has anyone else experienced this issue with the Gazette Edition theme?
