| | Almost all the pictures I use to put in the media slider this week were vertical pictures. This is fine, but it does leave a lot of black space to the left and right in the media slider, and isn't very aesthetically pleasing. I'm wondering how some of you may have tackled this. The only thing I can thing of would be instructing the photographers to make sure to also take horizontal pictures that could fit completely in the media slider. Any thoughts? |

| | To be honest, my solution would be to get rid of the slider. But, yes, short of that, tell your photographers they need to shoot for print and for the Web. For us that means vertical and horizontal photos. | |

| | Another thought would be to have horizontal crops specifically for the slider of vertical images in the post. | |

| | What we've done at The Pioneer is what Daniel suggests, just cropping differently. | Andrew – andrew@copress.org – CoPress Hosting Director – http://www.andrewspittle.net |

| | Thanks guys. I'm also curious, what is the pixel width and heighth of the media slider? That is, what pixel ratio should images be saved at to ensure they fit into the slider? |

| | The media slider on your site is set to 270px high by 595px wide, and I imagine if you resized your images to fit those proportions, they'd fit pretty darn well. If you want to change the size of the media slider, it's customizable by CSS. | |
