The CoPress core team is composed of a bunch of ninjas from around the country who are passionate about innovating at the intersection of journalism and technology.

Daniel BachhuberExecutive Director

Daniel is a junior Environmental Science and Journalism major currently taking a break from the University of Oregon. After freshman year at Whitman College doing IT and photography for the Whitman Pioneer, he worked as the Web Production Intern for Grist, an environmental news non-profit. CoPress began as a side-project while starting work for the Oregon Daily Emerald. Daniel is currently interning with Publish2. He has experience working with WordPress, Plone, and Bricolage. In his spare time, Daniel enjoys running, getting outside, and traveling to far off places.

Daniel’s favorites of the web include Seminars About Long Term Thinking, Future Perfect, and a mean slice of pumpkin pie.

Andrew SpittleHosting Director

Andrew Spittle is a senior majoring in Politics with minors in History and Education at Whitman College in the fair state of Washington. He’s working as the webmaster for the Whitman Pioneer on another site redesign over summer 2009. He’s also currently working on new websites for KWCW, Whitman’s radio station, as well as the Associated Students of Whitman College. In past years Andrew has worked in Yosemite National Park, Bass Lake, CA and a tiny town called Salemi on Sicily. When he’s not working Andrew enjoys basketball, travel, and hiking in the Southwest.

Andrew’s favorites of the web include Rebooting The News, Seth Godin, Daring Fireball, and anything that doesn’t involve peaches or bananas.

Albert SunAssociate

Albert Sun is a senior majoring in Math and Economics at the University of Pennsylvania. Albert’s primary interest is in how information is produced and distributed. He has experience with a variety of web development frameworks and systems, including WordPress, Drupal and Django. As Web Editor at The Daily Pennsylvanian he migrated the weekly magazine’s website to Drupal. In summer 2009, he interned with WSJ.com building Flash interactives. When he can, Albert enjoys sailing, exploring new cities and waiting for Starcraft II to be released.

Will DavisAssociate

William Davis is a print journalism major at the University of Maine, where he is Editor in Chief of The Maine Campus, the independent semiweekly newspaper. He previously worked for The Campus as Web editor, when he transferred the site from College Publisher to WordPress. As a high school student, he helped start the Kudzu Gazette at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. He also has served as a copy editor at the Burlington (Vt.) Free Press. In his free time, Will is assistant principal violist for the Bangor Symphony Orchestra and enjoys history, politics and PHP development.

Will’s favorites of the Web include Charles Apple and peanut butter fudge.
